Design and build
The Professional 800 is defined by its sound enclosure, a shell that seals around the jar. It makes the blender bigger than an open design, so measure under your upper cabinets. It comes in black only. Blendtec's page notes it's an imported good but doesn't say where it's made. Blendtec is known for blunt-blade designs.
Performance on paper: power, programs and quiet
At 1,800 watts, it's the most powerful blender we cover. Blendtec doesn't publish horsepower, so wattage is the fair comparison. The 90 oz WildSide+ jar (the size comes from a retailer listing) handles party-size batches of frozen drinks or soup.
Six programs cover Batters, Mixed Drinks, Smoothie, Frozen Treats, Whole Juice and Hot Soup. The 11-speed touch slider and Pulse give manual control for everything else. Self-cleaning is built in. The enclosure is the headline: if you blend early in the morning or in an open-plan kitchen, it's the reason to choose this machine.
Who it's for (and who should skip it)
Buy it if you blend early while others sleep, host often, or have an open-plan kitchen. Big-batch cooks get the most from the 90 oz jar.
Skip it if you want lots of programs, a choice of finishes or a compact base. The Vitamix Ascent X5 offers ten programs and four finishes in a smaller footprint.
Price, warranty and service
Blendtec lists the Professional 800 at about $799.95. It's covered by a 10-year warranty. We reviewed it because the older Pro 750 and Designer 725 no longer appear in Blendtec's current US lineup, and the Professional 800 is now the flagship.

Our verdict
The Blendtec Professional 800 is the quietest, biggest-batch blender here: 1,800 watts, a 90 oz jar, a sealed sound enclosure and a 10-year warranty for about $799.95. It has fewer programs and finishes than Vitamix. Buy it if quiet and capacity come first; buy the Vitamix for versatility.

Questions about the Blendtec Professional 800 with WildSide+ Jar
Is the Blendtec Professional 800 quiet?
It's designed to be quieter than open blenders thanks to its sealed sound enclosure, which surrounds the jar while it runs. Blendtec doesn't publish a decibel rating, so we can't give a number, but the enclosure is the main reason buyers choose it.
What jar comes with the Blendtec Professional 800?
The 90 oz WildSide+ jar, per a retailer listing. It's much larger than the Vitamix Ascent X5's 48 oz container, which helps with party-size frozen drinks and soup. Check clearance under your upper cabinets, since the enclosure adds height.
What happened to the Blendtec Pro 750 and Designer 725?
They no longer appear in Blendtec's current US blender lineup. The Professional 800 is now the flagship, with 1,800 watts, six programs and a sound enclosure. If you find an older model in stock, confirm warranty support before buying.
