Why an independent guide to high-end kitchen appliances?

Most of what ranks for luxury appliance questions is written by dealers who sell every brand they review, or by repair shops. That’s useful, but it isn’t neutral. We don’t sell appliances. We compare the published specs, prices and warranty terms side by side, explain the trade-offs in plain English, and tell you who should skip each product.

How to approach a luxury appliance package

Start with how you cook, not the logo. A 48-inch dual-fuel range with a griddle is a joy if you cook for a crowd, and an expensive way to heat soup if you don’t. Decide between gas and induction and between a range or a cooktop plus wall oven before you visit a showroom.

Decide on the look early. Pro-style stainless (Wolf, Thermador, Viking, BlueStar) and fully integrated, panel-ready kitchens (Sub-Zero Designer, Miele, Liebherr, Fisher & Paykel, Cove) drive different cabinet plans, and column refrigerators change the layout again.

Mix brands where it makes sense. Few kitchens need a single-brand suite. Plenty of buyers pair a Wolf range with a Miele dishwasher, or a Thermador cooktop with a Sub-Zero column. Our brand guide explains where each brand is strongest.

Price the package, not the pieces. Luxury brands set minimum advertised prices, so the real savings come from dealer packages and manufacturer rebates. See when to buy, and when you’re ready, ask local dealers for package quotes.

How we make money

We may earn a commission when you buy from a retailer through our links, and dealers may pay a fee when you ask us to connect you with them for a quote. Neither changes our ratings or rankings. Read our methodology and disclosure.
