A luxury coffee machine comes in three forms: a built-in unit that lives in a wall of cabinetry, a super-automatic that grinds, brews and froths milk at the touch of a button, and a semi-automatic espresso machine you run by hand. The machines we cover list from about $800 to about $7,700, and the right one depends far more on how you make coffee than on how much you spend.

The short answer: if you want coffee built into the kitchen and you drink a lot of milk drinks, start with the Miele CVA 7845 at about $6,999 list. It pairs a permanent plumbed water line with three bean containers, which no other built-in in our data does. If you want push-button coffee without a cabinet niche, the Jura E8 (about $2,599 to $2,799) is the sensible super-automatic. If you want to pull shots yourself, look at the La Marzocco Linea Micra (about $4,500, grinder sold separately) or the Lelit Bianca V3 (about $3,000).

Everything here is compared on published specs and list prices. Our ratings are editorial estimates, not lab results. Not sure where to start? The Coffee Finder asks five questions and points you to a machine.

Bosch 800 Series 24-inch Built-in Coffee Machine

  • 24″ wide
  • Grinder: SilentCeramic Drive (ceramic)
  • Pump pressure (bar): 19

Value4/5

The Bosch 800 Series BCM8450UC is the least expensive way to put a fully automatic coffee machine in a 24-inch wall niche, at a $3,999 list price. It pairs a 19-bar pump with a SilentCeramic Drive grinder, a 500 g bean container, a 0.5 L insulated milk container and 11 one-touch drinks, two cups at a time. Two flags: Bosch has no Benchmark-series built-in coffee machine in the US, so this 800 Series model is its only option, and Bosch's own product page showed it out of stock when we checked.

16.6″ espresso machine

Breville Barista Express Impress

Breville · Coffee machine · Countertop espresso

  • 2-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: integrated conical burr, 25 settings
  • Pump pressure (bar): 15

Value5/5

The Breville Barista Express Impress (BES876) isn't a luxury appliance, and that's the point. At a $799.95 regular price ($649.95 on sale when we checked on October 7, 2026), it's the most common gateway into real espresso. The Impress Puck System applies an assisted 22 lb tamp with a 7-degree twist, intelligent dosing adjusts from your last shot, and a 25-setting conical burr grinder is built in. You still steam milk by hand. Treat it as an affordable way to learn before investing in a Lelit or La Marzocco.

Breville Oracle Jet

Design4/5
Features5/5
Value4/5

The Breville Oracle Jet (BES985) is the best bridge between push-button and real espresso. It lists at $1,999.95 at Breville and Seattle Coffee Gear, and it grinds, doses and tamps for you into a full-size 58 mm portafilter, then textures milk hands-free with Auto MilQ. You still lock in the portafilter and pull a café-style shot, but the hard parts are automated. Dual ThermoJet heating and a Baratza European Precision steel burr grinder with 45 settings round it out. It's big and partly automated, which won't suit purists.

De'Longhi Eletta Explore Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with Cold Brew

De'Longhi · Coffee machine · Super-automatic

The De'Longhi Eletta Explore (ECAM45086S) is the most feature-packed super-automatic for the money. It lists at $1,999.95 (on sale for $1,799.95 when we checked on October 7, 2026), and brings Cold Extraction cold brew, two milk carafes (LatteCrema Hot and LatteCrema Cool) and more than 50 one-touch recipes. That's cold brew for about half the price of a Jura Z10. The trade-offs are a silver plastic-and-metal look that's less refined than Jura, and murky details on Wi-Fi and warranty.

24″ built-in coffee

Fisher & Paykel 24-inch Series 9 Contemporary Built-in Coffee Maker

Fisher & Paykel · Coffee machine · Built-in

  • $3,799-$4,499 MSRP

  • 2-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: stainless steel conical burr, 13 positions
  • Pump pressure (bar): 15
Performance4/5
Design4/5
Features3/5
Value4/5

The Fisher & Paykel 24-inch Series 9 Contemporary Built-in Coffee Maker (EB24DSXB1) is the design-forward value pick among built-ins. Fisher & Paykel lists it from $3,799, and one dealer lists the EB24DSXBB1 at $4,499. You get a 15-bar pump, a stainless conical burr grinder with 13 positions, a thermal milk jug and an extractable steam wand, behind black reflective glass. It's also the built-in we'd point Monogram and JennAir shoppers to, since we found no current built-in coffee machine from either brand.

11″ espresso machine

Jura E8 (Gen 4) Automatic Coffee Machine

Jura · Coffee machine · Super-automatic

  • $2,599-$2,799 MSRP
  • 11″ wide
  • 2-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: conical stainless-steel burr (Professional Aroma Grinder 2)
  • Pump pressure (bar): 15
Performance4/5
Design4/5
Features4/5
Value4/5

The Jura E8 (Gen 4) is the Swiss super-automatic most households should buy. It costs about $2,599 to $2,799 depending on the authorized dealer, makes 17 one-touch specialties, and pairs Jura's Pulse Extraction Process with a conical stainless-steel burr grinder. A siphon milk system draws from any container, including the carton. It lacks the Z10's cold extraction and automatic grind adjustment, and Wi-Fi needs a separately sold dongle, but for hot espresso and milk drinks it covers nearly everything for about $1,400 less.

12.6″ espresso machine

Jura Z10 Automatic Coffee Machine

Jura · Coffee machine · Super-automatic

  • $3,999-$4,399 MSRP
  • 12.6″ wide
  • 2-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: P.R.G.2+ product-recognizing grinder, 7 levels
  • Pump pressure (bar): 15
Performance5/5
Design5/5
Features5/5
Value3/5

The Jura Z10 is the countertop super-automatic to buy if you want the most capable push-button machine and don't need it built into a wall. It lists around $3,999 (down from a $4,399 list at one major retailer) and does something most rivals can't: hot and cold extraction, so it brews true cold-brew-style coffee on demand. Add a P.R.G.2+ product-recognizing grinder, 51 specialties and Wi-Fi Connect included. One flag: Seattle Coffee Gear showed it sold out on October 7, 2026, so check stock.

11.5″ espresso machine

La Marzocco Linea Micra

  • $4,500 MSRP
  • 11.5″ wide
  • Grinder: No
Performance5/5
Design5/5
Features4/5
Value3/5

The La Marzocco Linea Micra is a café espresso machine shrunk to fit a home counter, and it's the one to buy if design matters as much as the shot. It lists at $4,500 at La Marzocco Home USA and has dual boilers (a 0.25 L coffee boiler and a 1.6 L steam boiler) with PID temperature control, in an 11.5-inch-wide body styled after the commercial Linea. Budget extra for a grinder, which isn't included. And La Marzocco's US page doesn't state the warranty length, so confirm it before you buy.

11.4″ espresso machine

Lelit Bianca V3 Dual Boiler Espresso Machine

Lelit · Coffee machine · Countertop espresso

  • $3,000 MSRP
  • 11.4″ wide
  • 3-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: No
Performance5/5
Design4/5
Features4/5
Value4/5

The Lelit Bianca V3 is the enthusiast's espresso machine, and our pick for most serious home baristas. Whole Latte Love lists it at $2,999.95, with stainless steel dual boilers (0.8 L brew, 1.5 L steam), PID control, a quiet rotary pump and a paddle that lets you profile flow during each shot. It can also be plumbed, which makes it a rare fit for a built-in coffee bar. A 3-year parts and labor warranty is serviced by Whole Latte Love. You'll still need a grinder, and the paddle is a lot of control for casual drinkers.

12.3″ espresso machine

Miele CM 7750 CoffeeSelect Countertop Coffee Machine

Miele · Coffee machine · Super-automatic

  • $4,499 MSRP
  • 12.3″ wide
  • Grinder: conical burr
  • Cups at once: 2
Performance4/5
Design4/5
Features5/5
Value3/5

The Miele CM 7750 CoffeeSelect is the countertop super-automatic for households that argue about beans. Its three bean containers hold 540 g total, and you assign each drink to one, so espresso, coffee and decaf are always ready. It lists at $4,499 at Miele and Abt, makes 20 specialties, brews two drinks at once and fills a pot of up to 8 cups. It's the countertop sibling of the built-in CVA 7845, without the plumbing. Two caveats: Miele doesn't publish pump pressure, and the warranty term is unclear.

24″ built-in coffee

Miele CVA 7845 Built-in Coffee Machine with DirectWater

Miele · Coffee machine · Built-in

  • $6,999-$7,689 MSRP
  • 24″ wide
  • 2-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: conical burr (adjustable grind)
  • Cups at once: 2
Performance5/5
Design5/5
Features5/5
Value3/5

The Miele CVA 7845 is the most complete built-in coffee machine we cover, and the most expensive. It's Miele's flagship US built-in, with a permanent DirectWater plumbed connection backed by a 2.7 L tank, three bean containers holding 600 g total, and a 0.7 L milk container. Miele lists it at $6,999 (shown as a sale price), and one dealer lists $7,689 retail. If you want true push-button coffee in a 24-inch wall niche and never want to refill water, this is the benchmark.

10.5″ espresso machine

Rocket Espresso Appartamento 2.0

Rocket Espresso · Coffee machine · Countertop espresso

  • $2,150 MSRP
  • 10.5″ wide
  • 3-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: No
Performance4/5
Design5/5
Features3/5
Value4/5

The Rocket Espresso Appartamento 2.0 is the best-looking way into traditional Italian espresso at a reasonable price. Seattle Coffee Gear lists it at $2,150, and you get a 1.8 L copper heat-exchanger boiler, a commercial-size 58 mm portafilter and Rocket's signature dotted side panels, hand-built in Milan. The 2.0 update adds a deeper drip tray, RGB LED status lights and a water-tank sensor. The trade-offs: no PID, a vibration pump and no grinder, so it rewards hands-on owners willing to learn its rhythm.

24″ built-in coffee

Thermador 24-inch Built-in Coffee Machine

Thermador · Coffee machine · Built-in

  • $4,349-$4,729 MSRP
  • 24″ wide
  • 2-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: ceramic disc
  • One-touch drinks: 11
Performance4/5
Design4/5
Features4/5
Value3/5

The Thermador built-in coffee machine comes in two 24-inch versions: the TCM24PS with a direct water line and the TCM24TS with a removable tank. Thermador lists them at $4,729 and $4,349. On paper it's a solid push-button machine with a ceramic disc grinder, 11 one-touch drinks and Home Connect. The bigger issue is availability: both individual product pages now say the product is no longer available, and at least one major dealer shows the tank model as unavailable. Treat it as end-of-life and confirm stock before you design a niche around it.

24″ built-in coffee

Wolf 24-inch E Series Transitional Coffee System

Wolf · Coffee machine · Built-in

  • $4,365 MSRP
  • 24″ wide
  • 2-yr full warranty
  • Grinder: built-in, 13 settings (per Aitoro)
Performance4/5
Design4/5
Features3/5
Value3/5

The Wolf 24-inch E Series Transitional Coffee System (EC2450TE/S) is the coffee machine to buy if your kitchen is already Wolf and you want the wall to match. It lists at $4,365, offers 14 beverage options, and runs from an 84.5 fl oz tank, so it installs without a water line. It replaces the legacy EC24. The trade-off is features: there's no plumbed version, no advertised Wi-Fi and fewer published specs than Miele. It's a clean, simple built-in rather than a coffee-lover's showpiece.

How to choose a luxury coffee machine

Built-in, super-automatic or semi-automatic?

Decide how hands-on you want to be before you compare brands. A built-in or countertop super-automatic does everything for you: grind, tamp, brew and froth. A semi-automatic gives you control over grind, dose and milk texture, and rewards practice. Our super-automatic vs semi-automatic espresso guide walks through the trade-offs in detail.

If the whole household drinks lattes on autopilot, go automatic. If one person treats espresso as a hobby, go semi-automatic and add a good grinder.

Built-in coffee machines: plumbing and the cabinet niche

Every built-in on our list is a 24-inch unit designed to stack with a 24-inch or 30-inch oven column. The Miele CVA 7845 and Thermador TCM24PS can connect to a water line, so you never refill a tank. The Wolf E Series, Bosch 800 Series and Fisher & Paykel Series 9 run from a removable tank, which means no plumber but daily refills in a busy house.

Check the niche depth on the spec sheet before cabinets are ordered; the Miele calls for a 21.75-inch niche. One availability note: Thermador's own product pages now say both of its built-in coffee models are no longer available, so confirm stock with a dealer. Our built-in coffee machine guide covers plumbing, cost and whether a built-in is worth it.

Specs that matter for milk drinks and beans

Look at the milk system first if you drink cappuccinos. The Miele has a 0.7-liter milk container, the Bosch an insulated 0.5-liter container, and the Breville Oracle Jet textures milk hands-free with eight texture levels. Multiple bean hoppers (Miele CVA 7845 and CM 7750 both have three) let you switch between espresso and decaf without emptying a hopper. Pump pressure is a weak guide; several makers don't publish it at all.

Price tiers and how they're sold

Countertop machines are bought online and sometimes go on sale; built-in coffee is usually sold through appliance dealers as part of a kitchen package. Roughly:

  • About $800 to $2,200: Breville Barista Express Impress, Breville Oracle Jet, De'Longhi Eletta Explore, Rocket Appartamento 2.0.
  • About $2,600 to $4,500: Jura E8 and Z10, Lelit Bianca V3, Miele CM 7750, La Marzocco Linea Micra.
  • About $3,800 to $7,700 built-in: Fisher & Paykel, Bosch, Thermador, Wolf and Miele.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best luxury coffee machine?

It depends on how you make coffee. For a built-in, the Miele CVA 7845 leads on paper with plumbed water, three bean containers and Wi-Fi control, at about $6,999 list. For push-button countertop coffee, the Jura Z10 is the flagship and the Jura E8 the value pick. For hands-on espresso, the La Marzocco Linea Micra and Lelit Bianca V3 are the enthusiast favorites.

Is a built-in coffee machine worth it?

It's worth it if you drink several milk drinks a day, want a clean counter and are building a matching oven wall. It's not worth it if you like to upgrade every few years, because the machine is tied to a cabinet niche. A countertop super-automatic such as the Miele CM 7750 gives similar push-button drinks for about $4,499 without any cabinetry.

Do built-in coffee machines need a water line?

Not always. The Miele CVA 7845 and the Thermador TCM24PS can be plumbed to a water line, and the Miele also keeps a 2.7-liter tank. The Wolf E Series, Bosch 800 Series and Fisher & Paykel Series 9 use a removable tank, so they install without a plumber. Plumbing is a convenience, not a requirement.

What is the difference between a super-automatic and a semi-automatic espresso machine?

A super-automatic grinds, doses, tamps, brews and usually froths milk at the press of a button. A semi-automatic needs you to grind, tamp and steam milk yourself, and in return gives you more control over the shot. Super-automatics suit busy households; semi-automatics suit people who enjoy the craft and will buy a separate grinder.
