The Café 30-inch smart slide-in induction range with in-oven camera (CHS90XP2MS1) is the most feature-rich range for the money here. At about $5,399 MSRP, it pairs five induction elements, including a 3,700-watt front burner, with a 5.7-cubic-foot True European convection oven, air fry, an in-oven camera and SmartHQ Wi-Fi. Customizable hardware lets you match it to your kitchen. The trade-offs are a 1-year warranty and more electronics to potentially service. If you want the most connected, feature-rich 30-inch range on paper, this is it.

Design and build

Café is GE Appliances' "attainable luxury" brand, and customization is its calling card. The CHS90XP2MS1 is stainless, with a Matte White version (CHS90XP4MW2) and matte black on other SKUs. Hardware comes in brushed black, brushed copper, brushed bronze, brushed brass or flat black. The slide-in design sits flush between cabinets, and a warming drawer sits below the oven.

If you don't need the camera, the CHS900P2MS1 drops it.

The hardware options make it one of the easiest ranges here to coordinate with cabinet pulls.

Performance on paper

Café lists five induction elements: 3,700 watts right front, 2,500 left front, 2,500 left rear, 1,800 right rear and a 100-watt center warming zone. The 3,700-watt element is the one for boiling pasta water quickly and searing; the 2,500-watt pair handles everyday cooking; the smaller zones suit sauces and keeping food warm. Induction responds quickly and keeps the kitchen cooler, but you'll need magnetic cookware.

The 5.7-cubic-foot oven is big for a 30-inch range, larger than Bosch Benchmark's 4.6. True European convection adds a third heating element for more even baking, and air fry adds crisping without a countertop gadget. The in-oven camera lets you check food from your phone, and Gourmet Guided Cooking walks you through recipes.

Who it's for (and who should skip it)

Buy it if you want induction, love smart features, want a custom look and have a 30-inch space. It's a strong pick for families and smaller kitchens.

Skip it if you want the simplest possible appliance, prefer gas, or put warranty length at the top of your list.

It also suits cooks moving from gas who want a gentle learning curve; guided cooking and the camera take some guesswork out of a new cooktop and oven.

Price, warranty and service

MSRP is about $5,399 on cafeappliances.com. Café has advertised sales below MSRP, but we can't promise one will be running. Warranty is 1 year limited parts and labor, per Designer Appliances, so an extended plan is worth considering for a range this connected. GE Appliances has a broad service network.

Compare finished costs with Bosch: Café's MSRP is $850 higher, but that buys a bigger oven, Wi-Fi, a camera and custom hardware.

How it compares

Our Café vs Bosch induction range comparison is the key read, against the Bosch Benchmark 30 induction. For a pro-style step up, see the Fisher & Paykel 36 dual fuel. Our best induction ranges and cooktops and the range hub cover more, and the Kitchen Suite Matcher can build a Café suite.

Our verdict

The Café 30 induction range is the best feature-for-dollar pick here: a 3,700-watt element, a big 5.7-cubic-foot oven with air fry, an in-oven camera and custom hardware for about $5,399. Accept a short warranty and more electronics, or choose Bosch for simplicity.

Questions about the Café 30-inch Smart Slide-In Induction & Convection Range with In-Oven Camera

Does the Café induction range have a camera?

Yes. The CHS90XP2MS1 has an in-oven camera you can view through the SmartHQ app. If you don't need it, the CHS900P2MS1 is the version without the camera; ask your dealer for its current price. The camera is a convenience rather than a cooking feature, so skip it if you won't use the app.

How powerful are the Café induction elements?

Café lists five elements: 3,700 watts right front, 2,500 left front, 2,500 left rear, 1,800 right rear and a 100-watt center warming zone. The 3,700-watt element boils water and sears quickly. The two 2,500-watt elements handle most everyday pans, and the 1,800-watt element suits smaller pots and sauces.

What hardware finishes does Café offer?

Café offers brushed black, brushed copper, brushed bronze, brushed brass and flat black hardware. Pair them with stainless, matte white or matte black appliance finishes, depending on the model, to create a custom look. Hardware is a design choice, not a performance one.
