The Best Time to Buy Appliances, Especially Luxury Brands

The best time to buy appliances depends on what you're buying. For mainstream brands, the big holiday sales (Presidents Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Black Friday) are reliably good windows. For luxury brands like Sub-Zero, Wolf, Thermador and Miele, the calendar matters much less, because these brands hold advertised prices steady and offer savings through manufacturer promotions and dealer packages instead.
So the short answer for a luxury kitchen: the best time to buy is when a promotion that fits your plan is running, and early enough that your appliance specs are locked before cabinets are ordered. Right now, two published promotions qualify: Thermador's Gift With Purchase event (January 1 to December 31, 2026) and Fisher & Paykel's professional range warranty extension (August 1 to December 31, 2026).
Below we cover the general sales calendar, why luxury pricing works differently, the 2026 promotions we've verified and how to time a remodel. Always confirm current offers and qualifying models with an authorized dealer.
The general appliance sales calendar
For mass-market brands, appliance sales follow a fairly predictable pattern tied to US holiday weekends. Retailers commonly run their biggest appliance events around:
- Presidents Day (February), often one of the first big appliance events of the year.
- Memorial Day (late May), a major home-improvement weekend.
- Fourth of July, typically a summer appliance sale.
- Labor Day (September), the last big summer event.
- Black Friday and Cyber Monday (late November), the biggest sale period for many categories.
Many shoppers also watch for model-year changes. When a manufacturer introduces new models, retailers often discount the outgoing ones to clear floor space. Timing varies by brand and category, so watch for "discontinued" or "closeout" tags rather than relying on a specific month.
Those patterns are real for mainstream refrigerators, ranges and dishwashers. They're much weaker at the luxury end.
Why luxury appliances don't follow the holiday sale calendar
Luxury brands enforce minimum advertised pricing. Dealers can't advertise below a set price, which is why the list price for a Sub-Zero or Wolf is usually the same everywhere you look. Sub-Zero's retailers, for example, don't show prices at all; Sub-Zero publishes its list prices directly.
That doesn't mean everyone pays list. It means savings move behind the counter, into three channels:
- Manufacturer promotions run through authorized dealers, often as free or upgraded appliances, rebates or extended warranties instead of price cuts.
- Dealer package pricing when you buy several appliances, usually from one brand family, on one order.
- Floor models, closeouts and outgoing models, which depend on what a specific dealer has on hand.
Brand-run promotions can run for a few weeks or a full year, and they don't line up neatly with Black Friday. That's why the most useful calendar for a luxury buyer is the brand's promotion calendar, not the retail holiday schedule.
Luxury appliance promotions running in 2026
These are the only manufacturer promotions we've verified with published dates as of October 7, 2026. Others may exist; ask your dealer.
Thermador Gift With Purchase Sales Event (January 1 to December 31, 2026)
Thermador's Gift With Purchase event, the successor to its well-known "One, Two, Free" promotion, offers up to three complimentary appliances or upgrades with qualifying cooking or refrigeration purchases. The rules matter: the other appliances are at regular price, everything must be on one order through an authorized dealer, and no substitutions are allowed.
Qualifying products may include the Thermador Pro Grand 48-inch dual fuel range with steam oven, listed around $19,899, and the Freedom 36-inch built-in French door refrigerator, listed around $11,599. Verify qualifying models with your dealer before you order. The event ends December 31, 2026, so a Thermador kitchen planned for early 2027 is worth ordering this year if the timing works.
Fisher & Paykel professional range warranty extension (August 1 to December 31, 2026)
Buy a qualifying Fisher & Paykel professional range between August 1 and December 31, 2026, and the standard 2-year limited warranty extends by 3 years, to 5 years total. You must claim it by March 31, 2027. The Fisher & Paykel Series 9 36-inch dual fuel range, listed from about $11,899, is the professional range we track. Confirm qualifying models with a dealer.
What about Sub-Zero, Wolf, Miele and others?
As of our October 2026 check, we found no other promotions with published dates for the brands we cover. Brands do run periodic rebates and promotions through dealers, so ask when you request a quote. Never assume an offer is still running because you saw it last year. Thermador's earlier "Leap into Luxury" package page, for example, still showed 2025 dates when we checked, so treat it as expired unless your dealer confirms otherwise.
How to time a luxury kitchen remodel
The real cost of bad timing in a luxury kitchen isn't a missed sale. It's a delay. Here's how to sequence the purchase:
- Choose appliances before finalizing cabinets. Built-in and panel-ready appliances set the cabinet openings, so specs must be final before cabinet drawings are.
- Check which promotions apply when you're ready to order, and whether they require one order or a single brand family. Our luxury appliance brands guide explains which brands belong to which family.
- Ask about lead times. Popular configurations, colors and panel-ready models can take time to arrive, so order early enough for your schedule.
- Ask about storage or delayed delivery. Many dealers can hold your order until the kitchen is ready, letting you lock in a promotion without storing appliances in your garage.
- Get package quotes from two authorized dealers. Advertised prices match, but package terms, delivery and installation can differ.
Best time to buy by appliance type
- Refrigerators. For luxury built-ins, promotions matter more than season. Thermador's Freedom refrigeration may qualify for Gift With Purchase through December 31, 2026. Compare models in best built-in refrigerators.
- Ranges. If you're considering Fisher & Paykel, the warranty extension runs through December 31, 2026, and Thermador ranges may qualify for Gift With Purchase. Browse best 36-inch ranges.
- Dishwashers. These are often the easiest piece to add through a package. See best luxury dishwashers.
- Floor models. Any time of year. Ask dealers what's on display, and confirm the full warranty applies.
A final word on deals
Don't let a promotion pick your kitchen for you. A free appliance you don't need, or a range that doesn't suit how you cook, isn't a saving. Choose the right brands first, then ask which promotions and package prices apply. And always buy from an authorized dealer, so the warranty and factory-certified service are intact.
Frequently asked questions
When is the best time to buy appliances?
For mainstream brands, holiday weekends are the best time: Presidents Day, Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Black Friday. Outgoing models are also often discounted when new ones arrive. For luxury brands, the best time is when a manufacturer promotion that fits your plans is running, since these brands hold advertised prices steady.
Do luxury appliances go on sale on Black Friday?
Not in the usual way. Luxury brands enforce minimum advertised pricing, so you won't see deep advertised markdowns on Sub-Zero, Wolf or Thermador. Savings come from manufacturer promotions, such as Thermador's Gift With Purchase event running January 1 to December 31, 2026, and from dealer package pricing when you buy several appliances on one order.
What is the Thermador Gift With Purchase promotion?
It's Thermador's 2026 sales event, the successor to "One, Two, Free," valid January 1 to December 31, 2026. It offers up to three complimentary appliances or upgrades with qualifying cooking or refrigeration purchases. Other appliances are at regular price, the order must go through an authorized dealer on one order, and substitutions aren't allowed. Confirm qualifying models with a dealer.
Is there a Fisher & Paykel promotion in 2026?
Yes. Buy a qualifying Fisher & Paykel professional range between August 1 and December 31, 2026, and the standard 2-year limited warranty is extended by 3 years, for 5 years total. You need to submit the claim by March 31, 2027. Check with an authorized dealer which professional range models qualify before you buy.
Should I wait for a sale to buy a Sub-Zero or Wolf?
Usually not. Sub-Zero and Wolf hold advertised prices steady, and as of our October 2026 check we found no published promotion for either. Your best savings come from dealer package pricing on a Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove order. Waiting for a sale that may not come can delay your remodel, and delays can cost more than a discount saves.
