It bakes up to three Neapolitan pizzas at once on a 620 sq. in. floor, runs on a 61,500 BTU gas burner and heats in about 30 minutes. It's made in Alfa's plant in Anagni, Italy, and an optional Hybrid Kit lets you switch to wood. BBQGuys lists the natural-gas oven top at about $4,849. It replaces the old Alfa Brio, and it's a big step up from portable ovens in both capacity and price.

Design and build
The Moderno 3 Pizze is 42.5 inches wide overall and weighs 215 lb, built from refractory and steel in Italy. It comes in Ruby/Antique Red or Anthracite Grey. You can buy just the oven top for a counter, or add a base or table. The top-only price we cite won't include a stand, so budget for one if you don't have an outdoor counter.
Performance on paper: capacity and heat
Capacity is the reason to buy it. The 80 x 50 cm floor (620 sq. in.) holds three pizzas, so a party doesn't stall while guests wait in a line. Alfa says it reaches about 500°C (932°F) in around 30 minutes. BBQGuys lists 1,000°F, so we'd plan around Alfa's figure.
It also bakes bread, about 2-3 kg per load. Gas is the default, in natural gas or propane, and the Hybrid Kit converts it to wood if you want flame and smoke. Alfa also sells a wood-fired version.
Who it's for (and who should skip it)
Buy it if you host pizza nights for ten or more, want a stationary oven that looks like a piece of Italian kit, and have counter space. It's also a good fit if you want gas now and wood later.
Skip it if you'll make pizza for four. The Gozney Dome costs about half as much and handles a 16-inch pie. Skip it too if you need it fully integrated into a built-in island; the Kalamazoo is designed for that.
Price, warranty and service
Alfa doesn't publish US prices. BBQGuys lists the FXMD-3P-MROR-U natural-gas oven top at about $4,849. Coverage is 2 years on parts and components and 3 years on the gas burner, with labor not included. Ask your retailer who handles service, since you'll pay for labor.

How it compares
The Gozney Dome Gen 2 is smaller, cheaper and triple-fuel. The Kalamazoo Artisan Fire pizza oven is built for a stainless island and reaches 1,000°F, at more than twice the price. See all three in our best outdoor pizza ovens and the outdoor kitchen hub.
Our verdict
The Alfa Moderno 3 Pizze is the best choice here for volume: three pizzas at once, a 30-minute heat-up and a wood option, for about $4,849. Labor isn't covered and the temperature figures conflict. Buy it if you host big pizza nights; small households should choose the Gozney Dome.

Questions about the Alfa Moderno 3 Pizze Gas Pizza Oven
How many pizzas fit in the Alfa Moderno 3 Pizze?
Three Neapolitan-style pizzas at once, on an 80 x 50 cm cooking floor (about 620 sq. in.). That's the main advantage over two-pizza and single-pizza ovens, since you can keep a party moving without long waits between pies. It also bakes 2-3 kg of bread per load.
Can the Alfa Moderno 3 Pizze burn wood?
The gas model can, with Alfa's optional Hybrid Kit, which converts it from gas to wood. Alfa also sells a wood-fired version. Out of the box it runs on natural gas or propane, so choose the fuel that matches your outdoor gas supply.
How hot does the Alfa Moderno 3 Pizze get?
Alfa says about 500°C, or 932°F, in roughly 30 minutes. BBQGuys lists 1,000°F. Either figure is well into Neapolitan pizza territory, but use Alfa's number as the manufacturer rating when planning your cooking times and preheat.
