Design and build
BlueStar is based in Reading, Pennsylvania, and its spec sheet says this rangetop is handcrafted in the state. The BSPGRT366B is the current sealed-burner Platinum rangetop, with continuous grates and a choice of brushed stainless or plated trim in seven metal finishes. You can order more than 190 knob colors and several backguards.
It replaces the open-burner Platinum rangetop (BSPRT366B), which AJ Madison now lists as no longer available. If you wanted open burners with an interchangeable griddle and charbroiler, that model is gone; this one is sealed and has neither.
Performance on paper
BlueStar lists three 25,000 BTU front burners and three 18,000 BTU rear burners, all star-shaped X-8 designs. The extra flame points spread heat across wide pans, and 25,000 BTU is strong enough for wok hei-style stir-fries and quick boils on big pots.
The surprise is the low end. BlueStar's spec sheet lists a 500 BTU simmer, so you get searing and gentle holding on the same burner. On LP, BlueStar notes output runs about 4% lower. With no griddle or charbroiler, all 36 inches go to burners.
Who it's for (and who should skip it)
Buy it if you cook at high heat often, want a rangetop that looks custom, and like the idea of a Pennsylvania-built appliance. It's a natural fit for color-led kitchens.
Skip it if you want touches like illuminated controls, automatic reignition or LED lighting, which Wolf, Thermador and Monogram list and BlueStar's listing doesn't mention. Skip it too if budget matters; Thermador's PCG366W lists for about $2,600 less. Want a griddle? Look at the BSPGRT364G, which has a 15,000 BTU 12-inch griddle.
Price, warranty and service
AJ Madison lists the brushed-trim BSPGRT366B at an MSRP of about $7,585 and sells it at $6,595. The plated-trim BSPGRT366BPLT sells at $7,890. LP versions are BSPGRT366BL and BSPGRT366BLPLT. Warranty is 2 years parts and labor per AJ Madison. Confirm a local authorized dealer and servicer before buying.
How it compares
BlueStar vs Wolf covers the brand trade-off; the Wolf SRT366 gives up 5,000 BTU for all-burner dual-stack control. The Monogram Statement 36 rangetop offers 23,000 BTU for less. Our verdict
The BlueStar Platinum BSPGRT366B is the high-heat champion: three 25,000 BTU burners, a 500 BTU simmer and endless color choices. It costs the most and keeps features simple. Buy it for raw power and personality; choose Wolf for refinement or Thermador for value.
