The Bosch 800 Series 30-inch smart microwave drawer (HMD8054UC) is the pick if you want app control and lots of automatic programs at a mid-range price. It has 1.2 cubic feet, 950 watts, 11 power levels, 26 CookSmart auto programs and Home Connect Wi-Fi. AJ Madison lists an MSRP of about $2,499, and both Bosch and AJ Madison list it at $2,249. It's the only connected drawer here, but its warranty is just 1 year and stock was tight on Bosch's site.
Best for: Attainable luxury · Busy families · Smaller kitchens
What we like
- Home Connect Wi-Fi app control
- 26 CookSmart auto programs and sensor cooking
- Tilt-out LCD display
- Touch open/close drawer with child lock
- Under Wolf's price
Watch out for
- 1-year limited warranty
- About $250 to $500 more than Sharp for the same capacity and wattage
- Showed out of stock on Bosch's site on October 7, 2026
- Bosch styling, not a luxury-brand match
Design and build
The HMD8054UC is the successor to the HMD8053UC. It's a low-profile, 30-inch stainless drawer with a tilt-out LCD display, touch open/close and a child lock. Like other drawers, it installs below the counter, often in an island or under a wall oven.
Bosch is owned by BSH, which also owns Thermador and Gaggenau, so it's a natural fit in a Bosch or Bosch Benchmark kitchen.
Performance on paper
Bosch lists 1.2 cubic feet, 950 watts and 11 power levels, with sensor cooking. The 26 CookSmart auto programs set power and time for common foods, which helps if several people in the house use the microwave. Sensor cooking adjusts time automatically, so reheating leftovers takes less guesswork.
Home Connect is the real differentiator. You can check on cooking and adjust settings from your phone, which neither the Sharp nor the Wolf drawer offers. Capacity and wattage are the same as both.
Who it's for (and who should skip it)
Buy it if you like connected appliances, already use Home Connect for a Bosch dishwasher or oven, and want more automatic programs than Sharp offers. It's a solid fit for busy families and Bosch kitchens.
Skip it if you don't care about the app, since the Sharp delivers the same core specs for less. Skip it too if you're building a Wolf suite and want a matched look, or if a 1-year warranty worries you.
Price, warranty and service
AJ Madison lists an MSRP of about $2,499, and both bosch-home.com and AJ Madison list a $2,249 selling price. Bosch's site showed it out of stock on October 7, 2026, so check availability before planning your install. Retailer listings mention Bosch promotions; confirm any current offer and its end date with your dealer. Warranty is Bosch's standard 1-year limited, entire appliance, parts and labor.
How it compares
The Sharp 30-inch microwave drawer costs less with the same capacity and wattage, and the Wolf 30-inch microwave drawer adds flush-inset installation and Wolf styling. If you want baking and browning too, the Wolf E Series speed oven is the step up. Our best microwave drawers and the speed ovens and microwave drawers hub cover the rest, and the Kitchen Suite Matcher can help plan a Bosch kitchen.
Our verdict
The Bosch 800 Series HMD8054UC is the smart microwave drawer: same 1.2 cu ft and 950 W as rivals, plus Home Connect and 26 auto programs, for about $2,249 to $2,499. The 1-year warranty and stock issues are drawbacks. App users should buy it; others should save with Sharp.

Questions about the Bosch 800 Series 30-inch Smart Microwave Drawer
Does the Bosch microwave drawer have Wi-Fi?
Yes. The HMD8054UC connects to Bosch's Home Connect app, so you can monitor and adjust cooking from your phone. It's the only connected microwave drawer in our comparison.
What replaced the Bosch HMD8053UC?
The HMD8054UC is its successor. It keeps the 30-inch drawer format with 1.2 cubic feet and 950 watts, and adds Home Connect app control and 26 CookSmart auto programs.
What warranty does the Bosch 800 Series microwave drawer have?
Bosch's US standard is a 1-year limited warranty on the entire appliance, parts and labor. That's shorter than Wolf's 2-year coverage, so consider an extended plan if it matters to you.
