The Sub-Zero Designer 24-inch Refrigerator Drawers (ID-24R) are the pick when undercounter refrigeration has to disappear into an island. They run about $5,115 panel-ready and about $5,915 with a stainless door kit and tubular handle, holding 4.0 cu ft across two full-extension soft-close drawers. Touchscreen temperature control, adjustable LED lighting, Wi-Fi and Energy Star certification come standard. The trade-off: Perlick fits more inside for a similar price, and Sub-Zero doesn't publish the temperature range.

Best for: Integrated / panel-ready look · Busy families · Smaller kitchens

Design and build of the Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers

The ID-24R is 34.5 inches tall and 24 inches deep, sized for standard base cabinets, and weighs 170 pounds. Panel-ready is the default, so your cabinet fronts cover both drawers and the unit reads as cabinetry. You can also order a stainless door kit with a tubular or pro handle to match Sub-Zero and Wolf stainless.

Inside, adjustable dividers organize produce, drinks or snacks, and soft-on LED lighting has adjustable intensity. Sabbath mode and Star-K certification are included.

Performance on paper

Two drawers and 4.0 cu ft is supplemental storage, not a substitute for a refrigerator. Think kids' snacks and drinks in a family room, produce near a prep sink, or garnishes at a bar.

Touchscreen digital temperature control sets the drawers, and the Owner's App adds remote monitoring; one dealer lists Alexa and Google Home compatibility. Sub-Zero doesn't publish a numeric temperature range on the pages we checked, so if you plan to use it for specific items, confirm settings with your dealer. Energy Star and Smart Grid Ready mean it's built to run efficiently.

Who it's for (and who should skip it)

Buy them if you're building a Sub-Zero kitchen and want the island or bar drawers to match your full-size refrigerator and its coverage. The integrated look is as good as it gets.

Skip them if capacity per dollar matters; the Perlick Signature drawers hold 5.2 cu ft for a similar price. If you mostly store drinks, a beverage center with a glass door may serve you better.

Placement drives value here. Drawers make the most sense where you'd otherwise walk across the kitchen: in an island near the cooktop, by a breakfast bar for kids, or in a butler's pantry. Put them where they save steps, and the price feels easier to justify.

Price, warranty and service

Expect about $5,115 panel-ready, up to about $5,915 with a stainless door kit and tubular handle. Retailers withhold Sub-Zero prices because of minimum advertised pricing, so savings come from bundling. Request a package quote with your Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances.

Retailers list 2 years parts and labor from installation, and Sub-Zero's standard sealed-system coverage applies: 5 years full and 12 years limited on sealed-system parts.

How the Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers compare

The Perlick Signature 24-inch refrigerator drawers offer more space and a stated 33 to 42°F range. The Sub-Zero Designer 24-inch beverage center is the glass-door alternative. See best refrigerator drawers and beverage centers and our undercounter refrigeration hub.

Our verdict

Sub-Zero's ID-24R refrigerator drawers deliver the cleanest integrated look, smart controls and Sub-Zero's long sealed-system coverage. At about $5,115 to $5,915 for 4.0 cu ft, you're paying for the badge and the panel. Buy them to match a Sub-Zero kitchen; buy Perlick for capacity.

Questions about the Sub-Zero Designer 24-inch Refrigerator Drawers

How much do Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers hold?

The ID-24R holds 4.0 cu ft across two full-extension drawers with adjustable dividers. That's ideal for drinks, snacks and produce in an island or bar. It's not a replacement for a full refrigerator, and Perlick's 24-inch drawers hold more, at 5.2 cu ft.

Can Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers go outdoors?

The standard ID-24R is for indoor use. Sub-Zero makes an outdoor version, the ID-24RO, for outdoor kitchens. Ask your dealer about its specs and pricing, since we haven't covered it here, and make sure your outdoor installation follows Sub-Zero's guidelines for clearance and weather exposure.

Are Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers panel-ready?

Yes. The ID-24R is panel-ready by default, taking your cabinet fronts for a fully integrated look, at about $5,115. A stainless door kit with a tubular or pro handle brings it to about $5,915. Panel-ready is the better choice when the drawers sit in an island.
