It has a 5.1-cubic-foot cavity, dual VertiFlow convection, 10 cooking modes and Gourmet presets, at about $6,940 list. Miele's PureLine has more technology, Thermador's Masterpiece has the most features for the money, and Monogram's Statement is the value pick at about $4,600.
The best steam oven for most people is Wolf's 24-inch convection steam oven, at about $6,385. It steams, bakes, broils and slow roasts from a water reservoir, so no plumbing is required. For a no-compromise combi steam oven, Gaggenau's 400 Series offers 13 heating methods and five humidity levels.

Our picks, in detail
Wolf M Series Transitional 30-inch Built-In Single Oven
Wolf · Wall oven · Convection
- $6,940 MSRP
- 30″ wide
- Electric
- 2-yr full warranty
- Oven capacity (cu ft): 5.1
- Cooking modes: 10
Wolf's M Series is the wall oven to beat on paper. It has the biggest cavity among the 30-inch ovens here at 5.1 cubic feet. Dual VertiFlow convection and 10 modes cover everything from bread to roasts, and Gourmet mode offers 50 presets if you want the oven to do the thinking. A temperature probe, touchscreen, three halogen lights and Wi-Fi round it out. It installs flush with your cabinets and is made in Fitchburg, Wisconsin, according to one retailer.
It suits serious cooks and bakers who want a precise, easy oven that matches Wolf cooktops and rangetops. You can stack two for a double setup or pair one with a Wolf steam oven.
At about $6,940, it is not cheap. Skip it if you want an in-oven camera or steam assist, which Miele includes.
Miele PureLine 30-inch Convection Oven with FoodView
Miele · Wall oven · Convection
- $9,299 MSRP
- 30″ wide
- Electric
- 2-yr full warranty
- Oven capacity (cu ft): 4.59
- Cooking modes: 20+
Miele's PureLine H 7880 BP is the most advanced conventional oven here. FoodView puts a camera in the oven so you can watch from your phone. Moisture Plus adds bursts of steam for crusty bread and juicy roasts. There are more than 20 modes, TwinPower dual convection fans, a wireless probe and six rack levels. TasteControl cools the cavity quickly so food stops cooking, and the door stays cool to the touch.
It also looks the part, in Clean Touch Steel, Graphite Grey or Obsidian Black.
The trade-offs are size and price. At 4.59 cubic feet, it is smaller than the Wolf, and at about $9,299 it is the most expensive wall oven here with a published price. Skip it if you mainly roast and bake simply and do not need cameras and steam.
Thermador Masterpiece 30-inch Single Wall Oven
Thermador · Wall oven · Convection
- $5,799 MSRP
- 30″ wide
- Electric
- 2-yr full warranty
- Oven capacity (cu ft): 4.5
- Cooking modes: 16
Thermador's Masterpiece offers a lot of oven for about $5,799. It has 16 modes, true third-element convection plus Speed Convection, a multi-point meat probe and a 12-pound rotisserie, which none of the other ovens here lists. Air frying is available with an accessory. SoftClose, theater lighting, telescopic racks and a 2-hour self-clean make daily use easy.
It suits families and bakers who want a big feature list without paying for Miele's camera or Wolf's name. Thermador's Gift With Purchase event runs January 1 to December 31, 2026 on qualifying cooking purchases. Ask your dealer whether this oven qualifies.
The trade-offs: the cavity is 4.5 cubic feet, the smallest of the 30-inch ovens here. Thermador's site also showed it out of stock when we checked. Skip it if you need maximum capacity, or check availability before you plan around it.
Monogram Statement 30-inch Single Wall Oven
Monogram · Wall oven · Convection
- $4,600 MSRP
- 30″ wide
- Electric
- 2-yr full warranty
- Oven capacity (cu ft): 5
Monogram's Statement single oven is the lowest list price here at about $4,600, and it gives up little. You get 5.0 cubic feet, nearly matching Wolf. True European convection with Direct Air, hot-air frying, proofing and dehydrating, self-clean and steam clean are all included, plus Alexa and Google support through SmartHQ.
It suits families and bakers who want a big, capable oven and would rather spend on the range or refrigeration. It also comes in Monogram's Minimalist collection if you prefer a cleaner look.
The trade-offs are less brand cachet and fewer specialty features. There is no steam assist, camera or rotisserie. Monogram's price is from a retailer listing and appears to be MSRP. Skip it if you want the precision features of Wolf or Miele.
Wolf E Series Transitional 24-inch Convection Steam Oven
Wolf · Wall oven · Steam
- $6,385 MSRP
- 24″ wide
- Electric
- 2-yr full warranty
- Oven capacity (cu ft): 1.7
Wolf's E Series 24-inch convection steam oven is the easiest way to add steam cooking. It runs on a 40-ounce water reservoir that Wolf says supplies about four hours of steam, so no plumbing is required. A plumbed version is available if you want one. It steams vegetables and fish, reheats leftovers without drying them out, bakes with convection, broils at 1,750 watts and slow roasts. A full-color touchscreen, 50 presets and a temperature probe make it approachable.
It fits small kitchens and makes an excellent second oven next to a Wolf wall oven or range. It lists for about $6,385.
The trade-off is size. The cavity is 1.7 cubic feet, with 1.2 usable, so it is a companion oven, not a replacement for a full-size one. Skip it if you want one oven to do everything.
Gaggenau 400 Series 30-inch Combi-Steam Oven
Gaggenau · Wall oven · Steam
- Dealer quote
- 30″ wide
- Electric
- 5-yr full warranty
- Oven capacity (cu ft): 2.1
Gaggenau's 400 Series combi-steam oven is the pick for cooks who want steam as a precision tool. It offers 13 heating methods, five humidity levels from 0 to 100 percent, a temperature range from 85 to 450°F, sous-vide and a core temperature probe. It connects to a water line and drain, so you never refill it. Automatic cleaning with a cartridge keeps maintenance low. The handleless full-glass door opens automatically through 180 degrees.
Its 5-year parts and labor warranty, for purchases from January 1, 2025, is the longest on this page.
Gaggenau does not publish US pricing, and retailers ask you to call, so expect it at the top of the market. It also needs plumbing, which adds installation cost. The cavity is 2.1 cubic feet. Skip it if you want a published price or a simple install.

Capacity and convection
The 30-inch wall ovens here range from 4.5 cubic feet (Thermador) to 5.1 (Wolf). If you roast large turkeys or bake several sheets at once, favor the Wolf or Monogram. All four use true convection with a dedicated fan system. Miele and Wolf use dual convection systems, which on paper should give more even heat.
Steam oven vs combi steam oven
A steam oven cooks with moisture, which is ideal for vegetables, fish, grains and reheating. A combi steam oven, sometimes called a convection steam oven, mixes steam with convection heat so it can also bake and roast. Both of our steam picks are combination ovens. Wolf's reservoir model is easier to install, while Gaggenau's plumbed oven offers precise humidity control. Wolf also makes a 30-inch M Series convection steam oven listed at about $8,135 if you want a larger one to sit beside the M Series wall oven.
Double wall oven or oven plus steam?
Rather than two identical ovens, many cooks get more from one full-size oven plus a steam oven. If you need two full-size cavities, stack two singles from the same line so the look matches. Ask your designer about the cabinet height and cutout for each pairing.
Pair it with the right cooktop
Wall ovens free you to use a cooktop or rangetop above cabinets. See our best induction ranges and cooktops for 36-inch options, or browse every model on the cooktops hub. If you would rather keep everything in one appliance, compare our best 48-inch ranges, including Thermador's range with a built-in steam oven.
Warranty and buying
Most ovens here carry a 2-year warranty, while Gaggenau lists 5 years. If you are finishing the suite, our best luxury dishwashers list shows which brands match. Compare every model on the wall ovens hub, and see how the brands stack up in our luxury kitchen appliance brands guide. Frequently asked questions
What is the best wall oven?
For most luxury kitchens, the Wolf M Series 30-inch single oven is the best wall oven. It has 5.1 cubic feet, dual convection, 10 modes and 50 Gourmet presets, at about $6,940 list. Choose Miele's PureLine for an in-oven camera and steam assist, Thermador's Masterpiece for a rotisserie, or Monogram's Statement for the lowest list price at about $4,600.
What is the best steam oven?
Wolf's E Series 24-inch convection steam oven is the best steam oven for most people. It needs no plumbing, combines steam with convection, broil and slow roast, and lists for about $6,385. For the most control, Gaggenau's 400 Series combi-steam oven adds five humidity levels, sous-vide and a plumbed water connection, though its US price is not published.
Is a steam oven worth it?
It is worth it if you cook a lot of vegetables, fish and grains, reheat leftovers often or bake bread. Steam keeps food moist and reheats without drying it out. It is less useful if you mostly roast large cuts, because steam ovens are small. The Wolf here has 1.2 cubic feet usable, so treat it as a second oven.
Does a combi steam oven need a water line?
It depends on the model. Wolf's 24-inch convection steam oven uses a 40-ounce reservoir that you refill, and Wolf also sells a plumbed version. Gaggenau's 400 Series connects to a water line and drain. Plumbed ovens are more convenient day to day but cost more to install, so plan the water line before cabinets go in.
Should I get a double wall oven or a wall oven plus a steam oven?
For most cooks, one full-size wall oven plus a steam oven is more useful than two identical ovens. You gain steam cooking and better reheating while keeping a large cavity for roasts. If you bake in volume or host big holidays, two stacked full-size ovens from the same line give you the most capacity.
