The Bosch Benchmark dishwasher is the quietest and best-value dishwasher in our luxury lineup. Rated at 39 dBA, it holds 16 place settings, uses CrystalDry for better drying, has a built-in water softener and is Energy Star certified at 240 kWh a year. About $1,999 for the stainless SHX9PCM5N makes it the least expensive model we cover. The trade-off is a 1-year full warranty, so it's best for buyers who want top performance, a near-silent kitchen and real savings, and who will accept shorter coverage.

Best for: Quiet operation · Attainable luxury · Busy families

What we like

  • 39 dBA, the quietest dishwasher on our list
  • 16 place settings with a flexible third rack
  • CrystalDry plus a built-in water softener
  • AquaStop leak protection and EasyGlide Plus racks
  • About $1,999, the lowest price among our luxury dishwashers

Watch out for

  • 1-year full warranty; years 2 to 5 cover electronics and racks for parts only
  • Panel-ready SHV9PCM3N price isn't shown on Bosch's site
  • Lacks Miele's automatic detergent dosing

Design and build of the Bosch Benchmark dishwasher

Benchmark is Bosch's premium tier. The SHX9PCM5N and SHP9PCM5N come in anti-fingerprint stainless, and the SHV9PCM3N is the panel-ready version for a fully integrated look. EasyGlide Plus racks are designed to slide smoothly even when loaded, and the flexible third rack adjusts for utensils and small items.

Performance on paper

At 39 dBA, this is the quietest dishwasher we cover. Decibels are logarithmic, so 39 versus Miele's 42 or Thermador's 42 is a real difference in a silent kitchen. In an open-plan kitchen, that's the difference between hearing a soft hum and hearing nothing over dinner conversation.

Capacity is 16 place settings, matching Thermador's Star Sapphire and beating the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer's 14. PrecisionWash with a PowerControl spray arm aims cleaning power at the load, and ZoneControl lets you intensify washing in one area for heavily soiled pots.

CrystalDry is Bosch's drying system, designed to improve drying on plastics and glass. The built-in water softener helps in hard-water areas, where spotting and film can build up. Energy Star certification and 240 kWh a year mean efficiency is on par with Thermador's Star Sapphire.

AquaStop is Bosch's leak protection, designed to stop water flow if a leak is detected, which matters when the dishwasher sits beside wood cabinets or above a finished basement. Home Connect adds app control and notifications.

Who it's for (and who should skip it)

Buy it if you want the quietest dishwasher, a generous 16 place settings, or the best value in a premium dishwasher. It's an easy recommendation for families and open-plan kitchens, and it works in any brand's kitchen, panel-ready or stainless.

Skip it if warranty length matters most, or if you want automatic detergent dosing. Miele's AutoDos and Thermador's 2-year coverage address those priorities.

Price, warranty and service

Bosch lists the stainless SHX9PCM5N at about $1,999; the panel-ready SHV9PCM3N price isn't shown, so ask your dealer. Minimum advertised pricing means savings usually come through dealer packages. Our Kitchen Suite Matcher can help if you're still choosing brands.

Coverage is 1 year parts and labor, then parts only on electronics and racks in years 2 to 5, plus lifetime parts-only rust-through coverage on the tub liner and door. Consider an extended plan.

Our verdict

The Bosch Benchmark is the best-value luxury dishwasher: 39 dBA, 16 place settings, CrystalDry and a water softener for about $1,999. The 1-year full warranty is the main compromise. Buy it if quiet and value matter most; choose Miele for automatic dosing or Thermador for longer full coverage.

Questions about the Bosch Benchmark 24-inch Dishwasher

Is Bosch Benchmark the quietest dishwasher?

Among the luxury dishwashers we cover, yes. Bosch rates the Benchmark at 39 dBA, compared with 41 for Cove, 42 for Miele and Thermador Star Sapphire, and 44 for the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer. Decibels are logarithmic, so a few points make an audible difference in a quiet room.

Should I buy Bosch Benchmark or Miele?

Choose Bosch Benchmark if quiet and value come first: 39 dBA and 16 place settings for about $1,999. Choose Miele's G 7186 SCVi AutoDos if you want automatic detergent dosing, AutoOpen drying and a 2-year warranty for about $2,199. Both are excellent; the deciding factors are convenience features and warranty length.

Is there a panel-ready Bosch Benchmark dishwasher?

Yes. The SHV9PCM3N is the panel-ready Benchmark model, so you can match your cabinetry for a fully integrated look. Bosch's site didn't show its price when we checked, so ask your dealer for a current figure. The stainless SHX9PCM5N lists at about $1,999.
