By the specs it has three 25,000 BTU U-burners (75,000 BTU) with a 300-1,100°F range, a 14,000 BTU infrared rotisserie rated for 50 lb and 1,164 sq. in. of total cooking area. Retailers list the BE1-36RC at about $8,099 and the BE1-36RCI, with a 24,000 BTU infrared sear burner, at about $8,399. DCS is sold as "DCS by Fisher & Paykel." Design and build
The Series 9 has a 304 stainless exterior, cast stainless grates and an easy-lift hood that opens to 90 degrees. It weighs 308 lb. Finish is brushed stainless only. A note on model numbers: older references use BH1-36R, but the current 36-inch models are BE1-36RC and BE1-36RCI, which AJ Madison calls "Series 9 Evolution."
Performance on paper: U-burners and infrared options
DCS's patented U-burners are the story. Three of them at 25,000 BTU each give 75,000 BTU over 630 sq. in. of primary area, with a 300-1,100°F range; that's the widest range of the grills we cover. A large 534 sq. in. secondary area helps with sides and resting meat.
The RCI version swaps in a 24,000 BTU infrared sear burner. The infrared rotisserie is rated for 50 lb; AJ Madison lists it at 14,000 BTU in specs but "up to 18,000" in copy. A charcoal smoker tray adds real smoke flavor without a second grill.
Who it's for (and who should skip it)
Buy it if you want strong heat, lots of space and a good warranty, and don't need color or a famous badge. It fits Fisher & Paykel kitchens naturally.
Skip it if you want a colored grill (Hestan) or the adjustable infrared zone of a Lynx Trident. Skip it too if made-in-USA matters to you.
Price, warranty and service
Retailer pricing is about $8,099 for the BE1-36RC-N and about $8,399 for the infrared BE1-36RCI-N, at BBQGuys and AJ Madison. Coverage is a 2-year limited parts and labor warranty on the whole product, 5 years on radiant trays, side rails, drip pans and sear burners, and lifetime on stainless burners, the burner box and grates, with labor excluded after year two. BBQGuys doesn't state country of manufacture beyond "not made in USA."

How it compares
The Lynx Professional 42-inch grill is bigger with an adjustable Trident burner, and our Lynx vs Hestan grill comparison frames the upper tier. The Wolf 36-inch outdoor grill is the most direct size rival, but stock is limited. See our best built-in grills and the outdoor kitchen hub.
Our verdict
The DCS Series 9 is the best value among premium 36-inch grills: 75,000 BTU, a 300-1,100°F range, 1,164 sq. in. and 2 years of parts and labor for about $8,099. It lacks color options and a USA origin. Buy it for performance per dollar; design-led buyers should look at Hestan.

Questions about the DCS Series 9 36-inch Built-In Grill with Rotisserie
What is the difference between DCS BE1-36RC and BE1-36RCI?
The RCI adds a 24,000 BTU infrared sear burner and lists at about $8,399, versus about $8,099 for the RC with three U-burners. Both include the infrared rotisserie and 50 lb capacity. Choose the RCI if you sear steaks often.
How hot does the DCS Series 9 grill get?
DCS rates its patented U-burners for a 300-1,100°F range. That covers low, slow cooking through very high-heat searing. Actual grate temperature depends on weather, fuel and preheat time, so treat it as the burner range rather than a guarantee.
Who makes DCS grills?
DCS is owned by Fisher & Paykel and sold as "DCS by Fisher & Paykel." That means it can be bought and serviced through dealers who already carry Fisher & Paykel indoor appliances, which is handy if you're buying a matching suite.
