The Miele CVA 7845 is the most complete built-in coffee machine we cover, and the most expensive. It's Miele's flagship US built-in, with a permanent DirectWater plumbed connection backed by a 2.7 L tank, three bean containers holding 600 g total, and a 0.7 L milk container. Miele lists it at $6,999 (shown as a sale price), and one dealer lists $7,689 retail. If you want true push-button coffee in a 24-inch wall niche and never want to refill water, this is the benchmark.

Best for: Coffee lovers · Milk drinks · Push-button convenience · Integrated / panel-ready look · Entertainers

What we like

  • DirectWater plumbing plus a 2.7 L backup tank
  • CoffeeSelect: three bean containers, 600 g total, chosen per drink
  • OneTouch for Two and a coffee or teapot function up to 8 cups
  • 10 user profiles and Wi-Fi control through the Miele app
  • AutoDescale and AutoClean reduce routine maintenance

Watch out for

  • About $6,999 to $7,689, well above every other built-in here
  • Miele doesn't publish pump pressure
  • Needs a water line and a 21.75-inch-deep niche

Design and build of the Miele CVA 7845

The CVA 7845 measures 23.5 inches wide, 18 inches tall and 18.875 inches deep, and needs a niche 21.75 inches deep. It comes in graphite grey, obsidian black or Clean Touch Steel, so it lines up with Miele wall ovens and speed ovens in a column. It runs on 120 V at 1.45 kW, so there's no 240 V circuit to plan, but confirm outlet placement with the installation guide. The M Touch display wakes with a proximity sensor, and CupSensor adjusts the spout height to your mug.

Performance on paper

The headline is plumbing. DirectWater connects to a water line, so the machine never runs dry mid-party; the 2.7 L (91.3 fl oz) tank is there if you skip the plumber. CoffeeSelect lets you load three beans, say a dark espresso roast, a lighter filter roast and decaf, and assign each drink to one. That's a real advantage over single-hopper machines.

The conical burr grinder is adjustable, the 0.7 L milk container feeds two drinks at once, and the pot function brews up to 8 cups. Miele doesn't publish pump pressure or a clean drink count; one dealer says "more than 24 coffee and tea drinks."

Who it's for (and who should skip it)

Buy it if you drink several milk drinks a day, host often, or share the machine across a household with different tastes. The 10 profiles and three hoppers earn their keep there.

More features also mean more parts to maintain: plumbing, three hoppers and a milk system all need care, so confirm that a Miele-authorized technician covers your area before you commit.

Skip it if one person drinks two espressos a day. The Wolf or Bosch built-ins cost thousands less, and a hands-on espresso fan will be happier with a countertop dual boiler.

Price, warranty and service

Miele's standard US warranty is 2 years on the appliance, with extended plans up to 10 years. Some dealers have advertised extended-coverage offers on this model, so ask what's current. Prices are minimum-advertised, so savings come from bundling it with ovens; request a package quote from a local Miele dealer.

How the Miele CVA 7845 compares

The Thermador built-in coffee machine costs less but may be discontinued. The countertop Miele CM 7750 CoffeeSelect offers the same three-bean idea without plumbing, and Miele vs Jura weighs Miele against Swiss super-automatics. See our best built-in coffee machines and the coffee hub.

Our verdict

The CVA 7845 is the built-in to buy when coffee is a daily ritual for several people: plumbed water, three bean containers and a two-cup milk system. At about $6,999 it's a luxury within a luxury. Buy it for convenience and integration; buy Wolf or Bosch if you just want good espresso in the wall.

Questions about the Miele CVA 7845 Built-in Coffee Machine with DirectWater

Does the Miele CVA 7845 need a water line?

It's designed for one. DirectWater connects permanently to your plumbing so you never refill a tank. It also has a 2.7 L (91.3 fl oz) tank, so it works if a line isn't practical, but you'd be paying for a feature you aren't using. Plan the line during rough-in.

How many beans does the CVA 7845 hold?

It has three bean containers holding 600 g total. Miele's CoffeeSelect system lets you assign a container to each drink, so espresso can pull from a dark roast while coffee uses a lighter roast or decaf, without emptying a hopper.

Is the Miele CVA 7845 worth the price?

For heavy household use, yes. Plumbing, three hoppers, 10 profiles and a two-cup milk system remove most daily friction. For one or two drinks a day, the Bosch 800 Series or Wolf E Series cover the basics for thousands less, and a countertop super-automatic costs less again.
