Zip HydroTap Cube Plus Boiling & Chilled System review

The Zip HydroTap Cube Plus Boiling & Chilled system is the closest thing to a true boiling-water tap you can buy in the US. It delivers filtered water at 209°F and chilled water at 44°F from one sleek, square tap. Budget about $5,548 to $5,998, and know that price is two separate purchases: the under-sink command unit (about $4,698) plus the tap ($850 in chrome, $1,300 in other finishes). There's no sparkling water on this model. It's expensive, but nothing at this level does true boiling better.
Best for: Design-forward kitchens · Coffee lovers · Busy families
What we like
- Genuine 209°F boiling water, not "near-boiling"
- Power-Pulse holds temperature within 0.4°F
- Chilled 44°F filtered water from the same tap
- Six finishes, including brushed gold and gunmetal
- 3-year parts and labor when registered
Watch out for
- About $5,548 to $5,998 for tap plus command unit
- No sparkling (that's the Arc Plus)
- Tank volume and chilled output aren't published
- Annual filter replacement adds running cost
Design and build
The Cube Plus is a square-profile, single-hole tap with a 1.8 GPM flow. It mounts over the sink, or on an optional font if you want it elsewhere on the counter. Finishes are chrome, brushed chrome, matte black, brushed gold, brushed nickel and gunmetal.
Under the sink sits the command unit that boils, chills and filters. US retailers sell the tap and the unit as separate SKUs, so make sure your quote includes both. AJ Madison bundles them as CUBEPLUSBC120V.
Performance on paper
Zip rates boiling water at 209°F and holds it within 0.4°F using its Power-Pulse control. Boiling output on 120V is 85 cups an hour, enough for pasta pots, pour-over and tea for a crowd. Chilled water comes out at 44°F. AJ Madison's chilled-output figure is ambiguous, so we don't quote one.
Filtration is 0.2 micron, with a filter life of 1,100 gallons or 12 months. A boiling safety lock guards against accidental scalds. Zip doesn't publish the tank volume.
Who it's for (and who should skip it)
Buy it if you'd use boiling water daily for coffee, tea, blanching or filling pots, and you want chilled filtered water without a fridge dispenser. Design-led kitchens get a tap that looks like a piece of hardware, not an appliance.
Skip it if you want sparkling water; step up to the Zip Arc Plus. Skip it too if near-boiling water is enough, because InSinkErator's system costs a fraction of the price. Families with small children should be comfortable with a 209°F tap, even with the safety lock.
Price, warranty and service
Plessers lists the command unit (01043465) at $4,698 and the Cube Plus tap at $850 in chrome or $1,300 in other finishes, for about $5,548 to $5,998 total. Zip's 2023 US price book and AJ Madison list a 3-year parts and labor warranty when registered. Plan on professional installation for the tap and under-sink unit.
Zip is the US substitute for Quooker, which isn't sold here.
How it compares
The Zip HydroTap Arc Plus adds sparkling water for about $300 more. The InSinkErator Indulge Modern hot/cool system delivers about 200°F water for around $1,100, and the GROHE Blue chilled and sparkling kit replaces your main faucet but has no hot function. See our best boiling and sparkling water taps and the water taps hub, and use the Kitchen Suite Matcher to plan the rest of the kitchen.
Our verdict
The Zip HydroTap Cube Plus is the best true boiling and chilled tap sold in the US, with tight temperature control and a design-forward look. It's also two purchases totaling over $5,500. Buy it if you'll use 209°F water daily; choose InSinkErator if near-boiling is enough.

Questions about the Zip HydroTap Cube Plus Boiling & Chilled System
Does the Zip HydroTap Cube Plus include the under-sink unit?
No, they're sold separately. The command unit (01043465) is about $4,698 and the Cube Plus tap is $850 to $1,300 depending on finish, for roughly $5,548 to $5,998 total. Confirm both SKUs are on your quote.
Is Zip HydroTap water actually boiling?
Zip rates it at 209°F, essentially boiling at sea level, and its Power-Pulse control holds temperature within 0.4°F. That's hotter than InSinkErator's 200°F factory setting.
Does the Cube Plus make sparkling water?
No. The Cube Plus is boiling and chilled only, so it needs no CO2 cylinder. For sparkling, choose the Zip HydroTap Arc Plus, which uses a separately purchased 1.5 lb or 5 lb CO2 cylinder.
