The best warming drawer for most kitchens is the Thermador WD30WC. It has the largest cavity here at 2.2 cubic feet, a Proof setting for bread dough and a timer up to 5 hours, at about $2,249 list. Wolf's WWD3050O is the pick if you want a warming drawer you can also install outdoors. For vacuum sealing, Miele's EVS 7010 is the best vacuum seal drawer, with an 8-liter chamber that handles liquids and marinades.

A warming drawer holds cooked food at serving temperature, warms plates and proofs dough. A vacuum seal drawer is a built-in chamber vacuum sealer for sous vide, marinating and storing food. Both are typically 24 or 30 inches wide and sit below a wall oven, speed oven or coffee machine, so they finish an oven wall neatly.

We have not tested these drawers. The picks rely on manufacturer specs, warranties, list prices and what owners and dealers commonly report. Planning the whole oven wall? The Kitchen Suite Matcher will suggest a matched suite.

Thermador's WD30WC does the most for the least money. Its 2.2-cubic-foot cavity is the largest here and holds up to 40 pounds, enough for serving dishes for a holiday meal. It has Low, Medium, High and Proof settings across 100 to 190°F, a timer from 5 minutes to 5 hours, and a SoftClose drawer that opens with a push. It can be installed flush or overlay, and it has a Sabbath mode.

It suits entertainers and bakers who want warm plates and a place to proof dough. Thermador's Gift With Purchase event runs January 1 to December 31, 2026 on qualifying cooking purchases, so ask your dealer whether it counts toward a package.

The trade-offs: it comes in stainless steel only, with no panel-ready option listed, and it is not listed for outdoor use. Its 100°F minimum is higher than Wolf's 80°F, which matters only if you want very gentle warming. Skip it if you want a drawer front that matches your cabinetry.

Wolf's WWD3050O is approved for both indoor and outdoor installation, which makes it the warming drawer for an outdoor kitchen or a covered patio. It has the widest temperature range here, 80 to 200°F, four presets, hidden electronic controls and automatic shut-off. Wolf suggests it for plates, bowls and even towels, which is a nice touch beside a pool.

Indoors, the panel-ready version disappears into the cabinetry, and stainless kits with tubular or pro handles match Wolf ovens.

The trade-offs: it costs about $2,650 to $3,230 depending on finish, and a drawer front kit is required. Its 1.6-cubic-foot cavity is smaller than Thermador's, and there is no proof mode listed. Skip it if you only need an indoor warming drawer and do not need a panel-ready front, because the Thermador gives you more space for less.

Miele's EVS 7010 is the most capable vacuum seal drawer here. Its 8-liter chamber handles liquids, so you can seal marinades, soups and sous-vide bags without the mess of a countertop sealer. It has three vacuum levels and three seal levels, takes bags up to 250 by 350 mm and can vacuum external containers with the included adapter. The sealing bar is replaceable, and the handleless Push2open front is only 5.5 inches tall.

It is a natural partner for a Miele steam or combi-steam oven, where it makes sous-vide cooking simple.

The trade-offs: about $3,899, Obsidian Black is the only US finish we could verify, and the usable interior height is 3.25 inches, so tall containers will not fit. Skip it if you would only seal leftovers occasionally; a countertop sealer costs far less.

Wolf's VS24 is the vacuum seal drawer to choose in a Wolf kitchen. Like the Miele, it is a chamber sealer with three vacuum and three seal levels, so it handles liquids. It adds a seal-only mode, a wine-bottle sealing attachment and stopper, and an accessory hose for external containers, and it comes with 50 small and 50 large bags. Drawer fronts are available in stainless, black glass or panel-ready, sized to match Wolf's 24- or 30-inch ovens.

It suits serious cooks who sous vide in a Wolf steam oven and want everything to match.

The trade-offs: about $3,725 to $3,815 depending on the front, and its 0.25-cubic-foot chamber (about 7 liters) is slightly smaller than Miele's. Wolf's own help page and one retailer disagree on the number of vacuum levels; we use Wolf's figure. Skip it if you do not cook sous vide or batch prep, because it is a lot to spend on a vacuum sealer.

What is a warming drawer?

A warming drawer is a low-temperature drawer that holds cooked food at serving temperature without drying it out. It also warms plates, proofs bread dough and keeps dishes ready when guests are late. If you host holiday dinners or cook several dishes at once, it earns its space. Our what is a warming drawer guide covers how to use one.

Warming drawer temperature and settings

The two warming drawers here cover 80 to 200°F (Wolf) and 100 to 190°F (Thermador). Lower settings are for plates and proofing; higher settings hold cooked food. A timer and automatic shut-off are worth having, because a warming drawer is easy to forget.

Is a warming drawer worth it?

For entertainers and serious bakers, yes. For a household that rarely hosts, a warming drawer often becomes a storage drawer. A speed oven or steam oven may be a better use of the same space if you only have room for one. See our best speed ovens and best wall ovens and steam ovens.

Vacuum seal drawer vs countertop sealer

A built-in vacuum seal drawer is a chamber sealer. The chamber removes air around the bag, so liquids stay put, which is why it is ideal for sous vide and marinades. Most countertop vacuum sealers draw air out of the bag directly and struggle with liquids. A vacuum drawer also lives in the cabinetry, so it is always ready. It is worth it if you cook sous vide in a steam oven or a combi-steam oven like Gaggenau's 400 Series, or batch-prep meals.

Size and installation

The vacuum drawers here are 24 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall, designed to sit below a 24-inch steam oven, speed oven or coffee machine. The warming drawers are 30 inches wide to sit under a 30-inch wall oven. A classic 24-inch column is a built-in coffee machine over a vacuum or warming drawer; see our best built-in coffee machines. Wolf's drawers need a drawer front kit, so add it to the budget.

Outdoor kitchens

If you are building an outdoor kitchen, Wolf's WWD3050O is the only drawer here approved for outdoor installation. Budget for it as part of the whole project; our outdoor kitchen cost guide breaks down what to expect.

Price, warranty and buying

Warming drawers here list from about $2,249 to $3,230, and vacuum drawers from about $3,725 to $3,899. All four carry a 2-year warranty. Browse every model on the warming drawers hub. These drawers are almost always bought with ovens, so price them as part of a package.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best warming drawer?

The Thermador WD30WC is the best warming drawer for most kitchens. It has the largest cavity here at 2.2 cubic feet, a Proof setting, a timer up to 5 hours and a 40-pound load limit, at about $2,249 list. Choose Wolf's WWD3050O if you want a panel-ready front or an outdoor installation.

Is a warming drawer worth it?

A warming drawer is worth it if you entertain, cook big holiday meals or bake bread, since it keeps food at serving temperature, warms plates and proofs dough. It is less useful in a household that rarely hosts. If you have room for only one extra appliance, a speed oven or steam oven may get more use.

What temperature does a warming drawer go to?

It depends on the model. Wolf's WWD3050O runs from 80 to 200°F with four presets. Thermador's WD30WC runs from 100 to 190°F with Low, Medium, High and Proof settings. Use lower settings for plates and proofing dough, and higher settings to hold cooked food until serving.

What is a vacuum seal drawer used for?

A vacuum seal drawer is a built-in chamber vacuum sealer. It seals food for sous-vide cooking, marinates quickly, portions bulk meat for the freezer and reseals snacks. Because it is a chamber sealer, it handles liquids such as soups and marinades. Wolf's VS24 also seals wine bottles with an included attachment.

Miele or Wolf vacuum seal drawer?

Choose Miele's EVS 7010 for its 8-liter chamber, handleless front and pairing with Miele steam ovens, at about $3,899. Choose Wolf's VS24 for a Wolf kitchen, a wine-bottle sealer, more front options and a slightly lower price of about $3,725 to $3,815. Both offer three vacuum and three seal levels and a 2-year warranty.
