The Best Super-Automatic Espresso Machines
We may earn a commission from retailers or dealers when you buy or request a quote through our links. It never changes our picks. How we make money.

The best super automatic espresso machine for most luxury kitchens is the Jura Z10. Its grinder recognizes the drink you choose and adjusts the grind, it makes hot and cold-extracted coffee, and it offers 51 specialties, at about $3,999. If you want most of that for half the price, De'Longhi's Eletta Explore lists at about $2,000 and has the most recipes per dollar here.
A super-automatic espresso machine grinds, tamps, brews and steams milk at the press of a button. You give up some control over the shot, and you get the same drink every time with almost no cleanup. That makes it the right choice for busy households, guests and anyone who wants a latte before they are awake enough to tamp.
We have not tested these machines. The picks rely on manufacturer and authorized-dealer specs, warranties, list prices and what owners commonly report. Want a quick recommendation for your habits? The Coffee Finder takes five questions.

Our picks, in detail
Jura Z10 Automatic Coffee Machine
Jura · Coffee machine · Super-automatic
- $3,999-$4,399 MSRP
- 12.6″ wide
- 2-yr full warranty
- Grinder: P.R.G.2+ product-recognizing grinder, 7 levels
- Pump pressure (bar): 15
Jura's Z10 is the most capable countertop super-automatic here. Its Product Recognizing Grinder changes the grind for each drink automatically, which on paper is how it gets both espresso and cold-extracted coffee right from the same beans. It offers 51 specialties, a fine-foam milk system and an illuminated 2.4-liter tank, and Wi-Fi Connect for the J.O.E. app is included. It is made in Switzerland.
It suits households that drink a mix of hot and iced coffee and want it from one machine.
The trade-offs: about $3,999 is a lot for a countertop machine, and its 280-gram hopper holds one coffee at a time. One major retailer showed it sold out when we checked, so confirm stock. Skip it if you rarely drink cold coffee, because the Jura E8 or De'Longhi covers hot drinks for less. Jura's GIGA 10, at about $5,499, is the step up if you want more.
De'Longhi Eletta Explore Fully Automatic Espresso Machine with Cold Brew
De'Longhi · Coffee machine · Super-automatic
- $2,000 MSRP
- 10.3″ wide
- 2-yr full warranty
- Grinder: conical burr, 13 settings
- Pump pressure (bar): 19
De'Longhi's Eletta Explore offers the most for the money. It lists at about $2,000 and offers more than 50 one-touch recipes, Cold Extraction cold brew, and two milk carafes: LatteCrema Hot and LatteCrema Cool for cold foam. A touchscreen holds user profiles, and you can build custom recipes in an app. It also clears a travel mug.
It suits families and entertainers who want variety, including iced drinks, without paying Jura or Miele prices.
The trade-offs: the build and design are less refined than the Jura Z10's. De'Longhi's site lists the warranty as 2 years on the product page while a banner advertises 3, so confirm coverage when you buy, and Wi-Fi is not explicitly stated. Skip it if you want the simplest machine to live with, because two carafes and dozens of recipes mean more to clean and more to learn. Our Jura vs De'Longhi comparison goes deeper.
Miele CM 7750 CoffeeSelect Countertop Coffee Machine
Miele · Coffee machine · Super-automatic
- $4,499 MSRP
- 12.3″ wide
- Grinder: conical burr
- Cups at once: 2
Miele's CM 7750 is the pick for households where people drink different coffees. CoffeeSelect gives it three bean containers, so you can run espresso, decaf and a lighter roast side by side and choose per drink. It makes two drinks at once, brews a pot of up to 8 cups and connects to the Miele app over Wi-Fi. The glass milk container rinses automatically.
It is the countertop sibling of Miele's built-in CVA 7845, so it suits anyone who wants Miele's coffee system without building it into the wall.
The trade-offs: at about $4,499, it is the most expensive machine here, and it offers 20 specialties, fewer than the Jura or De'Longhi. Miele does not publish pump pressure, and its warranty is not stated on the product page. Skip it if one coffee suits everyone in the house. See Miele vs Jura for the head-to-head.
Jura E8 (Gen 4) Automatic Coffee Machine
Jura · Coffee machine · Super-automatic
- $2,599-$2,799 MSRP
- 11″ wide
- 2-yr full warranty
- Grinder: conical stainless-steel burr (Professional Aroma Grinder 2)
- Pump pressure (bar): 15
Jura's E8 is the sensible choice for a smaller kitchen or a household that mostly drinks a handful of favorites. It is 11 inches wide, offers 17 one-touch specialties and uses Jura's Pulse Extraction Process. Its siphon milk system draws from any container, including a carton from the fridge, which keeps cleanup simple.
At about $2,599 to $2,799 depending on the dealer, it costs much less than the Z10 and keeps Jura's straightforward operation.
The trade-offs: no cold brew, fewer drinks than the De'Longhi, and app control requires a separately sold Wi-Fi dongle. A siphon system is simple, but it is more basic than the Z10's dedicated fine-foam milk system. Skip it if you want iced drinks or more variety. If you want a hands-on alternative at a similar price, see our Jura vs Breville comparison.

Drink menu: how many specialties do you need?
Most households settle on four or five drinks. Big menus look good on paper, but the real differences are milk quality and how easy it is to clean. The E8's 17 specialties will cover most homes. Choose the Z10 or Eletta Explore if you want cold brew and iced drinks, and the Miele if different people want different beans.
Milk systems
There are two styles. A siphon or tube system, like the Jura E8's, draws milk from any container. It is simple and easy to clean. A carafe, like De'Longhi's LatteCrema or Miele's glass container, is easier to store in the fridge between uses. Whatever you choose, automatic rinsing is the feature that matters day to day.
Grinder and beans
Every machine here has a built-in grinder. The Jura Z10 adjusts grind by drink automatically. The Miele has three bean containers. If you switch beans often, that matters more than grinder specs.
Super-automatic vs semi-automatic espresso
A semi-automatic machine gives you control over every step and rewards practice, while a super-automatic does it all for you. If you enjoy the craft, see our best luxury espresso machines, including the Breville Oracle Jet, which automates grinding, tamping and milk but still uses a portafilter. Our super-automatic vs semi-automatic guide explains the trade-offs.
Countertop or built-in super-automatic?
A built-in coffee machine is a super-automatic designed to go into the wall beside your ovens. Miele's CVA 7845 is essentially the built-in version of the CM 7750, with a water line and a 2.7-liter backup tank, at about $6,999. Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, Wolf and Thermador also make 24-inch built-ins starting at about $3,799. You pay more for the integrated look and, with some models, plumbing. See our best built-in coffee machines and the built-in coffee machine guide before you decide.
Maintenance and service
Super-automatics need regular descaling, brew-group cleaning and milk-line cleaning. More features mean more parts that can need service, so buy from an authorized dealer and check who repairs the brand near you. All four brands list or cite 2-year coverage on at least some models, but read the terms for the exact machine.
Where to buy
These machines are sold online by authorized coffee retailers and in stores. Prices vary between dealers; on the day we checked, two authorized dealers listed the E8 about $200 apart. Compare a few before buying, and browse every machine on our coffee hub.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best super automatic espresso machine?
The Jura Z10 is the best super-automatic espresso machine for most luxury buyers. It adjusts grind automatically for each drink, makes hot and cold-extracted coffee, and offers 51 specialties for about $3,999. The De'Longhi Eletta Explore is the best value at about $2,000, and Miele's CM 7750 is best if your household drinks more than one kind of coffee.
What is a super automatic espresso machine?
A super-automatic espresso machine grinds whole beans, doses, tamps, brews and usually steams milk at the press of one button. You choose a drink and the machine does the rest. It differs from a semi-automatic machine, where you grind, tamp and steam yourself. Super-automatics trade some control for convenience and consistency.
Is a Jura worth it?
A Jura is worth it if you want simple one-touch coffee from a well-built Swiss machine. The Z10 adds a self-adjusting grinder and cold extraction, while the E8 keeps things compact and simple. It is less worth it if you want the most recipes for the money, where De'Longhi leads, or multiple bean hoppers, where Miele leads.
Jura vs De'Longhi: which is better?
Jura is the more refined choice, with simpler operation and Swiss build. De'Longhi offers more recipes and features for less money. The Eletta Explore's two carafes and cold brew cost about $2,000, while Jura's Z10 with cold extraction is about $3,999. Choose Jura for simplicity and design, and De'Longhi for value and variety.
Should I get a built-in coffee machine instead?
Choose a built-in if you are already planning a wall of ovens and want the counter clear, or if you want a plumbed water line. Choose a countertop super-automatic if you want similar coffee for less money and the freedom to replace it easily. Miele's CM 7750 and CVA 7845 share the same three-bean system, about $2,500 apart in list price.
